1st Attempt at Fondant

I have never been good at making cakes and cookies, but the past year, I have been trying to save $$ and make my kids cakes. I am planning to do fondant on Zoey's birthday cake coming up, but needed to do a dry run to see if it would even be possible. What do you think???
I didn't spend time to pipe around the sides, and the design was just last minute asking Zoey what cookie cutters she wanted to use on this cake so it isn't a great design.

July 4th Celebration

July 4th is when Henefer does their big town celebration. I think they do a pretty good job for such a small town and it is nice that it is so close to home. Casey had to work in the morning, so I took the kids over and met up with my father in law to let the kids play at the park. They had all sorts of booths as well as a lot of fun things for the kids to do. My kids are always fans of the big blow up slides.

Maizy has never been on a rock wall, so we waited in line forever so she could try it out. She didn't make it very far up, but she tried hard and did great for her 1st time.

They have a small playground there, but my kids still love it!

They do a parade in the early afternoon. Don't ask me why, but it is always at 2pm...I still don't get why! Zander and Zoey didn't like the sirens from the fire trucks in the parade. The second time around, they were crying and begging for me to lock them in the van. Oh my silly children!

After the parade, we went to my Father-In-Law's house and had dinner. The kids entertained themselves for a while waiting for the fireworks. They jumped, rode bikes, played hula hoops, and many more things. Maizy was starting to really get the hang of the hula hoops. I used to be good, but these hoops were small and didn't like my larger frame much at all.

The girls getting all snugly while waiting for the show to begin.

Zander snuggling with mom. Self portrait, so it wasn't that great of a picture!

I wanted to say thanks to Ben and Jill for hosting us practically the entire day!

2011 Swim Lessons

I am so lucky that our school has a pool, and that they hold swim lessons every Summer for fairly cheap. I think it is really important for children to learn to swim, especially since I have seen so many drownings at my work this year. My kids love it and it keeps them busy.
Here is Maizy. She is now in Level 2 and doing well. She still thinks she can swim better than she really can, so she makes me a little nervous.

This is Zoey...she has passed the Pre Level for 3 year olds and will move on to Level 1 next year. She is doing great!

Last, but not least is Zander. He is in the Pre Level for 2 year old and has passed. He will be in the Pre Level for 3 year olds next year. He has just barely started liking the water this year. The nice thing about the class he was in this year is it is one on one. They teach them, but make it fun while doing it so they like it.

Good job...mom and dad are so proud of how far you all have come!

College Roommate Reunion-Kind of

Well, it didn't go quite as planned, but at least I was able to get together with one of my old roommates who lives in Vegas. We had planned to get 4 of us together, but none of the days ended up working out despite several months of planning. It is funny that 3 of us live within an hour of each other and I haven't seen either of them in years. The one that lives in Vegas (Jill) I have seen 2 years in a row. Last year when Casey and I went to Vegas for our Anniversary, we met up with her for a few hours, and this year when she came to Logan for a family reunion, I drove up to see her.

Jill's family was nice enough to let me and my girls invade their family party. They fed us, let my girls play on the slip and slide, let them borrow a towel, and even put their clothes in the dryer since their mother didn't bring a change of clothes and they were soaking wet. I didn't take many pictures, but it was so good to get together with her and reminisce of the good 'ol days at Weber State.

Thank you Jill and family...hope to see you again soon!

Zoey with no Training Wheels

Zoey is not quite 4 years old and just got her training wheels off. We are so proud of her for being brave. She is doing awesome. She wants to be outside riding all the time and go on 2 walks a day to practice. She still needs help starting off on her bigger bike, but I can't complain!

Coach Pitch

This year, Maizy decided to play baseball again. She is no longer in t-ball, but they do coach pitch. She was so excited and has been doing pretty good.

After being married for over 10 years, we were finally able to take a vacation with Casey's dad and Curtis and his family. We headed to St. George to a time share that Ben was able to get. It was a beautiful place, but still being developed so there wasn't much around it except dirt. Jill is always good to bring along fun things for the kids to do. They painted ceramic bear banks, made wooden butterflies and cars, and put together hot pads. They loved it!

We went to a place called Anti-Gravity. They had several trampolines put together as well as up on the wall. They also had blow up slides for the little kids. You could play dodge ball on one set of the tramps and just jump around on the other set. I couldn't believe how many tramps were in the place.

We ended up having beautiful weather while we were there. Not only did we swim every day (which somehow I ended up not taking any pictures), but one hot day, we took the kids to a splash pad/stream in the middle of town. The kids loved getting wet.

Thanks for a great time Ben, Jill, Curtis, Kari, Brayden, Jake and Madison!
