Zander turns 3!

Wow, I can't believe my baby is already 3! Don't ask me where those years have gone, because I couldn't tell you. This year Zander wanted a Kung Fu Panda cake. I love being able to make cakes for my kids and I hope I am able to get better at it, but boy my kids sure are challenging my skills. I chose to not do fondant this time since I bombed at it last time, but I think it still turned out okay. The chinese letters spell Happy Birthday (or at least that is what they are suppose to spell).

Zander was so excited to blow out his candles that he blew them out a little early, so we had to re-light them.

He had so much fun opening his present this year. He loved ALL his toys and gets upset when his sisters even attempt to play with one. I guess we need to spend some time on teaching "sharing"!

Zander had his doctor appt about 2 weeks after his birthday. Don't you love when the office calls and needs to change the appt but doesn't have another one until way later??? That is what happened in this situation. Well, we finally got him in, even though he didn't want to go (I think he thought he was going to get a shot-luckily he didn't need any this time!) He continues to be a "big" boy to say the least!
Height: 40.75 in=98%
Weight: 43.87 lb=100%
At least he is on a curve, right?!!!

We have such a wonderful group of friends and family that are so supportive. We had a packed house, and if my nephew hadn't of gotten hurt and had to visit the ER, it would have been a perfect night. It was still a great party and we want to thank those who were in attendance!

First Day of School

The girls have been so excited to start school and now it is finally time. Maizy is starting 1st grade. She is ready to go all day and is most excited to eat lunch at school. She is a smarty pants, so I know she will do just fine in 1st grade. Her teacher is Mrs. Edgel, which happends to be the same 1st grade teacher I had many moons ago.

Zoey is starting the 4 yr old Preschool with her teacher from last year, Ms. Shelley, whom she loves. She loves school as well, which I am so thankful for.

I know there are parents out there who dread their kids going back to school, but I am not one of those. Get them out of the house and out of my hair for a few hours, then I can appreciate them even more when they get home!

Zoey is the Big 4

Zoey turned 4...and I'm hoping it is the end of the terrible threes! She wanted a Tangled cake, so I tried my hand at fondant. Let's just say that me and fondant don't really get along! I guess she liked it, and that is all that matters.

Zoey's stats:
Height 42.52 inches 94%
Weight 40.79 lb 85%

We usually try to combine Zoey's birthday party with the Summit County Demolition Derby so there is less traveling for our guests. This year was no exception. The party was great, the derby was great, and the company was awesome as well.

My kids think they have to pull faces for the camera now...they are quite the characters!

Love my kiddos!

Year of Reunions

This has been a great year to get in touch with people we haven't seen for a long time.
For starters, I was able to meet up with a good friend that I haven't seen since 9th grade. Kristynn moved away to Idaho. Her sister found me on line and we reconnected, but we weren't able to get together in person until this year. It was so good to see her and hear what she has been doing over the last 18 years.

The same day I met up with Kristynn, we decided to go and see our good friends, the Barnes', in the same area that we haven't seen since we left Idaho 3 years ago. It was good to see them and see how big their 2 kids have gotten.

I met up with one of my roommates earlier in the Summer, but I was also able to meet up with 2 more. Nancy and Camille live about an hour away from me, but we haven't found the time to get together. We met at our old dorms to find that they had been torn down...crazy! I guess change is good, right?!!!

I have a lot of good and rough memories with these girls, but am glad we were able to get together and remember the good times.

Flaming Gorge 2011

It has been quite a few years since we took a vacation out to Flaming Gorge, so we decided it was time. Unfortunately my brother forgot his kids started school the last week of July, so they were unable to come. It was a good week and my kids had a blast.

My parents bought a water trampoline years ago, and this was it's first venture out of the box. The kids loved playing on it.

One of many 4-wheeler rides. We are on a high cliff overlooking the water.

Most of our afternoons were overcast, but it was nice to not have to bake in the heat.

Here is our camp. This was our first time tenting with the kids...they did okay!

Another overlook.

I love campfires, and we usually do one every night. We were extremely cautious this year since the mishap last year with Zander.

Enjoying some time at camp.

The girls loved going on the tube with Grandpa. They loved being in the water, even though it is a little chilly.

Some birds had made a nest on a rock in the water and there were baby birds in it.

A beautiful sunset view of the water.

I have lots of memories of this place and hope to have many more with my little family.
